I recent wrote a poor review after dealing with Modine. I received a unit that had a bent fan that was discovered as imbalanced after the unit was installed. I installed it as a homeowner following all local guidelines and permitting. Modine would not, and will not stand behind their product as it was not installed by a contractor. This is very frustrating when the unit was clearly defective. I contacted eComfort who had no success getting Modine to honor their warranty. ON THEIR OWN ACCORD, ECOMFORT SUPPLIED ME A FAN TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE ONE. That means a lot to me and the unit now works as expected. I would not elect to give my money to Modine again but to my understanding all the manufacturers have equally poor customer service policies. Be prepared when buying a unit heater, and make sure you do it with a reputable retailer on your side like eComfort.

I researched for weeks for a shop heater. When I found the Modine and read the review and the history of the company I was sold. Heater was delivered on time no damage to the unit. As far as the heater it woks great. My shop is 25x45 and 18’ ceilings with mostly r-11 insulation it usually takes 30 mins to raise it from 30 degrees to 65 I highly recommend.

Great unit for heating a shop

I have had the 60K HDS unit installed in my wood shop for just over a week now. It is working great. The area I am heating is 25 x 24 with 12 ft ceiling. We have had temps under 20F and it maintains 50 easily, hardly ever running. It can also get it up to 60 quickly when I am working in the shop.

We have a metal building with no insulation. In South Texas our winters are basically in the 40's and 50's with occasional 20's to 30's. Our heater warms it up quickly where we can work in short sleeves. If I would insulate, then I'm sure it wouldn't run very much. Can't speak to the fuel consumption as we are on propane and it was just filled. Will update later. This appears to be a 5-star product.
