The Modine name has become synonymous with quality unit heaters in millions of homes and workshops all across the world. The HD75 is no exception to this rule, with sound engineering and reliability to last decades on end. Field wiring connections and electrical knockouts allow the HD75 to be installed nearly anywhere, while it's quiet operation and a natural, neutral coloring allow it to blend in seamlessly in any location.
  • Hush-Puppy Quiet Operation
  • The HD75 is incredibly quiet during operation. This allows the heater to be inconspicuous yet effective at all times - it will not distract you from your work.
  • Low Profile Design
  • The HD75 has an incredibly low profile design, measuring in at a height of only 18 inches. It can be mounted with a one inch clearance from the ceiling on only two angle brackets, keeping the unit heater out of your way.
  • Aluminized Steel Heat Exchanger
  • The aluminized steel heat exchanger passes lower manufacturing costs along to the consumer, is incredibly durable and is protected by a full 10 year warranty by Modine.
  • Electric Knockouts
  • Electric wiring knockouts and field wiring connections on the HD75 keep installation costs low and save time during both installation and maintenance for your contractor by simplifing all required electrical work.
  • Permanently Lubricated Motor
  • The motor on the HD75 has a permanent, long lasting lubricant straight from the factory. This means that the motor never has to be oiled, reducing maintenance costs, general wear and tear, and operational noise.
  • Power Venting System
  • The power venting system quickly and efficiently brings flue exhaust from the unit heater to the outdoors, and requires minimal installation labor. This keeps installation related costs as low as possible.
  • Baked Polyester Paint
  • The HD75 features a neutral colored baked on polyester paint, providing excellent corrosion resistance and durability while blending in with a wide variety of environments.
  • Modine Installation
  • Installation by a professional installer is required by the manufacturer.

Can I connect the 3" flue to an existing 4" roof vent?
William D
from New Jersey
September 04, 2017
Answer
Without being on site to inspect the exact details of your application, I can not say for certain, whether your existing vent piping will work with the UDAP-45 unit heater. Your installer will need to confirm suitability and compliance with local and national building codes and regulations. Provided the above are met, you should be able to use your existing 4" venting.

Be aware that Modine requires that the vent pipe be made from galvanized steel or another suitable corrosion resistant material as condensation may occur in the vent pipe. With a larger vent, there will be more heat loss and a higher chance of condensation which can lead to corrosion and premature failure of your venting. You can find complete venting details beginning page 6 of the installation manual.

Does this unit come with a thermostat?
Ed
from Vermont
December 30, 2015
Answer
Modine Hot Dawg heaters do not include a thermostat, so one must be purchased separately. Almost any low voltage thermostat can be used, but among the most popular is the basic non-programmable heat only model.

What are typical installation costs for a Modine Hot Dawg heater?
Bob
from Pennsylvania
November 20, 2015
Answer
There's no easy answer here - installation costs will depend on a number of factors including labor rates in your market and your specific requirements. An installation will require:
-mounting the unit (est. 1-2 hours)
-connecting to gas source (greatly varies by distance, est. 1-4 hours)
-connecting to electrical source (greatly varies by distance, est. 1-2 hours)
-venting the unit (est. 1-3 hours)
-connecting to controls (est. 1 hour)

Installation will usually require two workers, which can sometimes speed things up. Labor rates generally vary from $100-150/hr, depending on location. Some installations will require a lift, adding to the expense.

When mounting near the ceiling of a 12' high shop, does the unit need to be mounted angled down towards the floor to get heat at floor level?
Mike
from Oklahoma
October 17, 2015
Answer
For proper operation the Modine Hot Dawg must be installed in a level horizontal position. You'll likely want to angle the louvers to blow air down toward the floor.
