New Generator Will Not Start

Ordered a replacement 20RCA for my 17 year old Kolhler 17KW generator. Stayed with Kohler as was very satisfied with the 17 KW performance and longevity. Receive new Kohler 20RCA and installed where the old generator was. Was able to reuse the existing transfer switch as it was comparable with bot the old and new generators. Connected electrical and natural gas and was ready to do startup. NO START!!!!! Checked for gas at generator and was good. Double checked wiring--all good. Still no start. Called a Kohler certified service and got a tech out in 2 days. Tech checked the generator and informed me the either the internal regulator of the mixer (carburetor) were bad. Said this should be covered under warranty but would have to order the parts from Kohler. Tech also advised that they were having similar problems with the 20 KW and 26KW units.
What a bummer to spend almost $6000.00 and the unit won't run.. I am very disappointed with these results and probably should have purchased a Cummins generator!!!!!

This was our first time buying online. It all went well, the only problem was that generator had a small area that had the paint rubbed off, the customer was ok with a little touch up paint. Over all smooth process.

Great Generator

First off shipping from this company is always amazing! 2nd one of these I have installed on my houses. One solar, this one was grid tie, both propane. Generator works as it should. Conversion to propane is no longer an orfice swap. Valve turn and solenoid plug. Sticker on side on 20k said to unplug solenoid. Kohler directions say to unplug on 14k version, says nothing about 20k. My 20k would not start with plug unplugged. It does run with plug installed (sticker should not be there on 20k Kohler). That was only hiccup and was Kohler direction issue not this company, these folks are awesome!

Genetators Direct did well, Kohler not so much .The generator came with mislabeled screw terminals which cost me several hours to diagnose. Once I corrected them it ran fine .The Kohler service people were just about useless all they wanted to do was blame it on me and direct me to a local dealer.

My generator was delivered with a truck and loaded into my garage. I paid an extra small fee for this service, but it was worth it. I saved money by purchasing my generator from Electric Generators Direct and getting a certified Kohler installer to install it.

This Is About More Than The Generator

The generator is just what I expected,,, made in America quality at a fair price and durability I can rely on. What I want to focus on is Generators Direct. I called them on a Thursday afternoon and after a satisfying conversation with a very nice lady I put my order in for a Kohler 20K RCA. The following Tuesday morning the generator was in my driveway. You can't get a letter delivered that fast any more,,, Wow ! Delivery was made by a very nice gentleman who dropped his lift gate to the level of my trailer and pushed it right in. The whole process of buying from EGD was a truly refreshing experience and I give them 5 stars also. They know how to run a business.
