Goodman established itself as the largest HVAC manufacturer in the US by producing high-quality, efficient equipment and providing it to homeowners at a great value. The GMS8 single-stage, multi-speed furnace utilizes Goodman's superior heat exchanger design to provide efficient, reliable heating to your home. This furnace also excels at providing comfortable circulation in a variety of conditions thanks to its four-speed blower motor. Designed with some of the most dependable components available, the GMS8 furnace is built to last. It is also equipped with a self-diagnosing control board for quick maintenance, and is backed by Goodman's generous warranty. With the GMS8, you're getting comfort and peace of mind.

    Product Features

    Advanced Heat Exchanger Design
The GMS8 furnace employs a reliable dual-diameter tubular heat exchanger design. Aluminized steel is used in construction for incredibly efficient heat transfer, and a wrinkle-bend is applied to the tubes to enhance the heat exchanger's dependability and longevity.

    Quiet Comfort
Goodman takes great pride in producing equipment that doesn't disrupt your home. The blower, motor, and igniter of the GMS81005CN were selected for their incredibly low sound levels.

    Secure Cabinet
All GMS8 furnaces are protected by a durable steel cabinet with a long-lasting powder paint finish. The heat exchanger section is lined with foil-insulation to prevent heat loss and the entire cabinet is rated for less than 2% air leakage.

    Easy Integration
The GMS81005CN makes it simple to enhance your system with a humidifier; just wire it directly to the low-voltage terminal on the control board.

Fuel Type To create heat, some form of fuel is required. Fuel Type specifies what the product uses as an input to create heat.
Natural Gas
Vent Type Products that use combustion (burning) of fuel to create heat also create potentially dangerous gasses that need to be exhausted (AKA "Vented"). Depending on the product, venting can be done via a chimney, through a side wall, or use a second vent to provide fresh air to the appliance.

Modulating/Staging Stages are unique speeds or levels that equipment can operate at. More stages allow for better fine-tuned control of output, which improves comfort and efficiency. Modulating equipment can operate across a range of levels, giving the highest level of fine-tuned control. Learn More
Single Stage
Blower Type Blower type describes the motor that powers the fan in the unit. PSC multi-speed is the standard motor that operates with pre-set fan speed levels. ECM multi-speed are more efficient but still operate with pre-set fan speeds. Finally, ECM variable-speed motors are also energy efficient and automatically adjust to changing system conditions.

Can this unit be used in California?
Francisco
from California
December 28, 2015
Read Response +
Answer
Goodman makes special Low NOx models for use in California and other areas that limit nitrous oxide emissions. These models can be easily found and identified because that have an 'X' instead of an 'N' at the end of the model number. All of the high-efficiency models (AFUE >= 90%), are compliant with these emissions regulations.

I have a Carrier furnace at the moment. How difficult would it be to install the Goodman furnace in its place since I already have all the duct work in place for the Carrier?
Timothy
from Idaho
December 04, 2015
Read Response +
Answer
As long as the cabinet dimensions are the same, the job is pretty straightforward. There will likely be a few gas piping and electrical hookup modifications, but these are usually not much work for a professional installer. You'll want to match the width, depth, and height to your existing unit as closely as possible.

Keep in mind that you should not sacrifice proper output to match physical dimensions -- making adjustments to ductwork is preferable to installing a mis-sized unit.
