What is the humidifier used for?
Joseph
from California
November 14, 2018
Answer
A humidifier will introduce moisture to the air during the winter months because as the temperature goes down so does the humidity in the air. Inside your house this can cause hardwood floors to dry out and have the seams open up. For health reasons, as the air gets dryer, there is a chance of dried-out nasal passages that result in bloody noses and dry skin.

Can you lay it down an put it by the ceiling? I want to put it my shop.
Jamie
from Missouri
August 23, 2016
Answer
Goomdan's GMS-Series furnaces are approved for horizontal installation on either the right or left side. They can also be suspended using 3/8" threaded rod and 2"x2"x3/8" angle iron. Further details on horizontal installation and suspension can be found on pages 9 and 10 of the installation manual

Can this unit be adapted for central air conditioning?
Gary
from New York
February 18, 2016
Answer
With an appropriate condensor and coil, the GMS81005CN is capable of providing air flow for up to a 5 ton air conditioning system.

Can this unit be used in California?
Francisco
from California
December 28, 2015
Answer
Goodman makes special Low NOx models for use in California and other areas that limit nitrous oxide emissions. These models can be easily found and identified because that have an 'X' instead of an 'N' at the end of the model number. All of the high-efficiency models (AFUE >= 90%), are compliant with these emissions regulations.

I have a Carrier furnace at the moment. How difficult would it be to install the Goodman furnace in its place since I already have all the duct work in place for the Carrier?
Timothy
from Idaho
December 04, 2015
Answer
As long as the cabinet dimensions are the same, the job is pretty straightforward. There will likely be a few gas piping and electrical hookup modifications, but these are usually not much work for a professional installer. You'll want to match the width, depth, and height to your existing unit as closely as possible.

Keep in mind that you should not sacrifice proper output to match physical dimensions -- making adjustments to ductwork is preferable to installing a mis-sized unit.
+
Is there a propane conversion available for this unit?
Paul
from New York
October 21, 2015
Answer
Yes, the NG-to-LP conversion kit for this furnace is the Goodman LPT-03.
