Goodman established itself as the largest HVAC manufacturer in the US by producing high-quality, efficient equipment and providing it to homeowners at a great value. The GMH8 two-stage, multi-speed furnace utilizes Goodman's superior heat exchanger design to provide efficient, reliable heating to your home. This furnace also excels at providing comfortable circulation in a variety of conditions thanks to its four-speed blower motor. Designed for ease of installation, the GMH8 furnace has multiple options for orientation and gas, electrical, and return air connections. Maintenance is just as easy as installation thanks to the unit's self-diagnosing control board. Backed by Goodman's generous warranty, a GMH8 provides comfort and peace of mind to homeowners.

    Product Features

    Advanced Heat Exchanger Design
The GMH8 furnace employs a reliable dual-diameter tubular heat exchanger design. Aluminized steel is used in construction for incredibly efficient heat transfer, and a wrinkle-bend is applied to the tubes to enhance the heat exchanger's dependability and longevity.

    Dual$aver Technology
Dual$aver Technology allows GMH8 furnaces to begin operating at the lower stage for ideal efficiency. The control board of the furnace then uses historical data about the rate of temperature change in your home to make an intelligent decision about whether the higher stage of heating will be necessary.

    Quiet Comfort
Goodman takes great pride in producing equipment that doesn't disrupt your home. The blower, motor, and gas valve of the GMH81005CN were selected for their incredibly low sound levels.

    Secure Cabinet
All GMH8 furnaces are protected by a durable steel cabinet with a long-lasting powder paint finish. The heat exchanger section of the cabinet is lined with foil-insulation to prevent heat loss.

    Easy Integration
The GMH81005CN makes it simple to enhance your system with a humidifier and an electronic air cleaner; just wire them directly to the low-voltage terminals on the control board.

Fuel Type To create heat, some form of fuel is required. Fuel Type specifies what the product uses as an input to create heat.
Natural Gas
Vent Type Products that use combustion (burning) of fuel to create heat also create potentially dangerous gasses that need to be exhausted (AKA "Vented"). Depending on the product, venting can be done via a chimney, through a side wall, or use a second vent to provide fresh air to the appliance.
Chimney Vent
Modulating/Staging Stages are unique speeds or levels that equipment can operate at. More stages allow for better fine-tuned control of output, which improves comfort and efficiency. Modulating equipment can operate across a range of levels, giving the highest level of fine-tuned control. Learn More
Two Stage
Blower Type Blower type describes the motor that powers the fan in the unit. PSC multi-speed is the standard motor that operates with pre-set fan speed levels. ECM multi-speed are more efficient but still operate with pre-set fan speeds. Finally, ECM variable-speed motors are also energy efficient and automatically adjust to changing system conditions.
PSC Multi-Speed
Orientation Orientation describes the direction that air will flow through a piece of equipment. (e.g. air will flow horizontally through a "Horizontal" unit heater.) Most equipment will only function properly if installed in the proper orientation.

Can this unit be used in California?

Answer
Goodman makes special Low NOx models for use in California and other areas that limit nitrous oxide emissions. These models can be easily found and identified because that have an 'X' instead of an 'N' at the end of the model number. All of the high-efficiency models (AFUE >= 90%), are compliant with these emissions regulations.

Whats size filter does this furnace use?
Amarlia
from Virginia
October 24, 2015
Read Response +
Answer
The Goodman GM8 furnaces have minimum filter surface area based on the furnace size. You can reference the chart on page 24 of the installation manual for more details via the manuals tab or this link. Keep in mind the filter is not provided with the furnace, so the actual size in your home will depend on the specifics of your installation. For existing installations, you'll want to check the filter size that's already in place. For new installations, contractors should size filters based on manufacturer requirements and system ductwork.

Thanks for your question!
