Preventive Maintenance

Review Posted 07/31/2021
This product I recommend only as preventive maintenance for AC units operating already well. Do not recommend for units already freezing if it is get a professional to fix the issue(s). It could be freezing for many reasons, such as, refrigerant leak, under/over charged, dirty condenser coil, stuck close compressor contactor, wrong blower speed, bad blower motor, dirty air filter, plugged evaporator coil, return vents blocked by dirt, furniture or curtains, etc.

Good Freeze-stat

Bought this for my Daughter's condo. The condensing unit is a little over-sized for the installed evaporator. We have the fan at its max speed when the AC is running.
So, when its in a situation where the AC runs for a long time, the evaporator freezes up.
This freeze stat opens at 32 deg. F and closes at 45-50 Deg. F
The installation went quick with the clip-on attachment per the instructions.
My installation could have used a 4 Ft pig tails instead if the 14" ones that came with the freeze stat. That's the only thing I would change at this point
I have not had a situation where it would have had to activate yet, but there is still a month to go now for hot weather.
I hope this keeps us from having to get into the evaporator with hair driers any more!
