Features

Radon accumulation is a cancer-causing naturally radioactive substance. Without proper venting, radon can accumulate in homes. The Fantech HP2190Q Radon Fan helps to mitigate radon deposits in your home through use of a 141 CFM fan. It features a plastic housing and requires a 4.5" duct for use. Each unit is factory sealed to prevent leakage and is constructed with a watertight electrical terminal box. The HP2190Q is specially designed for applications where lower pressure and flow are needed.
  • Thermal Overload Protection
  • Thermal overload protection automatically resets the fan when temperatures get too high, avoiding potential damage to the unit due to overheating.
  • Watertight Electrical Terminal Box
  • The terminal box is sealed to increase moisture resistance.
  • Quiet Operation
  • The Fantech HP2190Q has been factory tuned to provide whisper quiet operation in a fully sealed plastic housing.
  • Flexible Mounting Options
  • The HP2190Q can be mounted both indoor and outdoor, including wet locations.
  • Product Note
This product requires a Fantech FRIK Radon Installation Kit to complete installation.

Fantech HP 190 Radon Fan Replacement

This was purchased as a direct replacement for an existing and no longer working same model/same brand radon fan for my residence (single family home in Frederick, MD). The previous fan gave us over 10 years of service. I figured while I was replacing the fan, I would also install a RadonAway Condensation Bypass, as it seems one of the contributing factors resulting in the eventual failure of these fans is condensation.

Additionally, I purchased a new set of rubber couplings, which are now available in white. They come with the Fantech FRIK Radon Kit, also available on this site. Since the fan is installed outside my home where it is visible, it now has a cleaner look than before. They fit snug around the fan and are a little tricky to get on. Be sure they are warm first. I let them sit out in the summer heat for about 15 minutes and persuaded them over the wide openings of the fan with a vinyl automotive pry tool.

The Price for the replacement fan was very reasonable. One of the best on-line prices. The shipping was also very reasonable.

The installation went smoothly (direct swap) and the fan drew the required amount of vacuum according to the meter. I purchased a Radon test kit and the results came back with safe levels.

This blower has evened out the temperature in our house, my only complaint is the noise level at 78 dB it sounded like a jet engine. I added a silencer on the output side dropping the noise to 61 dB. The furnace blower is at 45 dB. I need to add a silencer before it to reduce the noise in the other vents.
I suggest using a lower CFM that is quieter and using 2 of them on different vents.
