Homes today are being built to be more energy efficient than ever before. While this has meant increasingly lower energy bills, it has also eliminated the cracks and gaps that used to provide natural ventilation for our homes. While opening a window is a great way to bring in fresh air, for many people, it is only an option for a few weeks each year. An energy recovery ventilator (ERV) like the VE30100 will remove stale air from your home and replace it with fresh indoor air while maintaing consistent humidity. ERVs will also capture close to 70% of the excess energy in the exhaust air and use it to condition the incoming air. The VE30100 will supply fresh air to your home year round, while also minimizing the additional load on your heating and cooling equipment.
  • Air Quality Protection
  • Clean Comfort Recovery Ventilators take care of the air you breathe by going beyond heating and cooling, removing odors and ensuring pollution-free comfort and exceptional indoor air quality.
  • Advanced Defrost Operation
  • Clean Comfort's VE30100 supplies your home with fresh outdoor air even while preventing freezing by gradually adjusting intake fan speed.
  • Control Flexibility
  • The VE30100 features a number of optional controls to select from that offer a variety of operating modes too allow you to make system-specific adjustments.
  • Dual-Motor Defense
  • Clean Comfort's independently controlled dual motors allow for easy balancing with air dampers, providing increased precision and optimal home pressurization.
  • Consistent Humidity
  • Clean Comfort ERVs work to prevent up to 40% of the moisture content trapped in fresh air from passing through your system, creating consistent comfort regardless of outdoor temperature or humidity.
  • Easy Ducting Connections
  • Clean Comfort recovery ventilators feature an exclusive ISF (Insert, Slide and Fix) collar system that makes installation and maintenance easier than other manufacturers' devices.

Answer
There are a few different venting configurations that can be used with the VE series energy recovery ventilators. These include haveing a fully independent ventilation system, exhausting at the source and supply fresh air in the return duct, and tying both the supply and return air into the return ducting. Details on all three are available in the installation manual starting on page 6.
