The Caleffi Thermostatic Control Head with Built-in Sensor is used to regulate the fluid flow to the radiator of a heating system. They are provided with a regulating element which automatically controls the opening of the valve to keep ambient temperature of the room where they are installed constant at the set value. This will prevent unwanted temperature rises and grants considerable energy savings.

Will this control work with a one pipe steam system? Steam flows into the radiator through the same pipe that the condensed steam (water) flows back to the boiler in.

Answer
The thermostatic operator you inquired about is only for hot water systems. However, we do offer a thermostatic control for 1-pipe steam systems. For a free standing radiator you will need the materials listed below:
Please note, you will still need to furnish an appropriate steam vent to use this valve.
