Have had several power outages over the past year, some for multiple days and have not had any issue with the generator kicking on - whole house transition works perfectly and a huge benefit to having the generator. Having first yearly maintenance soon, nothing but good results for the first year. Worth the purchase.

I bought the 40584 system, same system as this one. Install was pretty easy. After it was installed, it worked flawlessly and so far we have had two minor power outages and it functioned exactly as designed. It's extremely well built and I chose this over the other brands because Briggs & Stratton has such a solid reputation for motors like this. When it ran the first couple of times, it missed a little bit but that went away by the 4th run of the system. Now... no skips at all, smooth as silk.
Two downsides and suggestions to improve the product... the digital display and management console is cumbersome to use... it's pretty much like having to set the date and time on a watch. But once it's set you don't really have to use it much. It would be nice to have an App to connect by USB (it has a USB port) to more easily set up the device.
The second downside is the exhaust. It's great that it exhausts to the front but it blasts hot gas toward the ground and if you have grass there it kills this line of grass each time it runs. I fixed this problem on mine with a piece of sheet metal, a floor tile, and a metal "L" joint... cost me $18 to fix that problem.
But all said... very happy with the system. The real test will be a sustained outage so I'll come back and update this after hurricane season!

Great product so far, installed a few weeks ago, haven't had a need for it yet, but so far so good. Would suggest to the manufacturer and reseller, better instructions to set the DIP switches, the numbers on the switch and the numbers on the manual don't coincide, it was pretty much a guessing game, on the 10KV side, for a 20KV unit, not sure which switch to turn on. Besides that, installation and starting went smoothly

Wish I would have purchased one sooner. Love it so far. Has already had to do its job. Worked flawlessly. I live out in the boon docks, end of the line and lose power all the time. Now no more worries.

Installed by a licensed electrician only to find out that the electronic panel is defective. Hopefully the Briggs and Stratton will replace quickly.

Home is in Rockport Texas. Electrician did final installation and test run on August 24th. Hurricane Harvey direct hit on August 25th. Evacuated and returned on 28th to find Unit running. Contacted PED for additional Maintenance Kits, who promptly supplied next day. Maintained Maintenance Schedule for next 13 days with routine oil, filters, spark plug, changing as well and stated engine adjustments.
Machine is awesome, and do have multiple neighbors who plan on purchasing same unit in the near future.
Do not wish this type of disaster on anyone, however with this unit, we were able to maintain all of our power requirements.

This is a great product and it is well worth the money!!!, The installation went very smoothly, it took the electrician about 5 hours to install. All of the features are simple to understand and maintenance can be done by the home owner. I recommend this product without reservation.
