We live in a very rural part of Texas which is subject to frequent power outages. In the summer of 2008, we installed a 15KW G.E. (made by B & S) with auto transfer switch. It was struck by lightning on May 27, 2016 while in service. It was a very good generator and had 481 hours of faithful service on it. Because of the reliable service we obtained from that generator, we decided to replace it with a 20KW Briggs and Stratton.
This new unit was easy to install and ready for use right out of the box. After anchoring it to the concrete pad, making all of the connections and turning the propane on, it started immediately. The voltage and frequency were dead on with both no load and full load. It is quieter than the old unit and I really like the remote status Annunciation. We shopped all of the major brands comparing price, reliability and availability of service and parts. A number of our friends have Generac units which we strongly considered but the B & S unit seemed the best value for the money. I would definitely recommend this unit to anyone and most of all, I would buy it again.

My biggest worry was delivery, but the truck driver was nice and courteous, plus helpful with lowering the gate to my 5x9 trailer, so I could easily cart it near it's resting place. Both electrical and gas installers liked the easy connections, however the electrical inlet hole in the back, wasn't sufficient, but the installer was easily able to correct.
Having the transfer switch installed while building our home, helped make the connection simple. Having access to four strong backs for final positioning, also made it simple. A concrete pad is advisable, and use anchor bolts to secure. Runs well, with the noise level just slightly less of a lawnmower. I'm happy with it and waiting for the next power failure.
A couple of "Powered by Briggs &S tratton" decals would of been nice for labeling the inside of the transfer switch and sub panel.

The original Briggs and Stratton 15KW Generator was destroyed during super storm Sandy when it came time to replace the unit it was without question (based on previous unit) to choose Briggs and Stratton. I searched the web and found Electric Generator Direct to have the best price and FREE shipping with no TAX. The service that I received was better than when I bought the original from Sears. I am very pleased with the product. (but I hope never have to try it) Thank You
