Perfect solution for Above Garage ManCave

Can't say enough good things about this product selection. The low profile takes a minimal amount of space and fit perfectly under a huge picture window. It is incredibly efficient, cycles off when desired temps are reached and a much better value than heat strips and window units that both block view and consume much more electricity than this small heat pump system. The overall cost was comparable to a window unit and heat strip so why would anyone not choose this option?

Amana Sleeve

I purchased an A/C unit from Menards and they had no sleeves available at all, not even from the manufacturer. So I purchased the Amana sleeve and it worked perfectly.

Easy do-it-yourself

Got this sleeve for a new PTAC unit for a wood shop. It was easy to install. We placed it about 5" off the floor. I held the sleeve against the wall after I cut out enough stud, drew a line around the sleeve and used a sawzall to make the hole, taking out the line. Just remember to follow instruction included and don't force the unit to fit the hole.
Cut the hole big enough to allow the sleeve to fit freely into the wall and then caulk with some good outdoor waterproof silicone. Don't forget to tilt it 1/4 bubble for rain drainage outside and humidity drainage from the unit itself. The shop doesn't have gutters installed yet so roof rain does hit on top of the sleeve, that would run back inside the building if it isn't tilted enough.
If you read and follow the instructions you shouldn't have any negative outcomes... Just DON'T bend/warp or force the sleeve into the wall. Don't drill any holes in the bottom of the sleeve either, I couldn't find the included screws when I needed them so I just used 2" wood/decking brass screws to secure the sleeve to the opening 2x4 frame. 3 on each side. Predrill the screw holes. This may seem like a lot of unnecessary info but I held off ordering this unit for months because these were questions I couldn't seem to find answers for online and were a concern for me on the installation job.
