I wouldn't be a homeowner without a Generac Generator! We moved to the South from New Jersey in 2000. Being in rural South Carolina on an acre of land with no power due to tornado's just wasn't something I was willing to live with. We installed our whole house generator through our local Lowe's Generac distributor and it is great. We are the only house in our 15 homes sub-division that has power when there is a power outage. Great product! I simply can't understand why? Anyone would want to live without one.

The purchase and delivery of this unit went as expected. I paid cash to get the discount so it took longer than if I had paid by CC. The unit arrived in good shape and I removed my old dead 17kw unit and hooked this one up. The techs at EGD.com helped me with sizing and after making the connections, I hired a generator contractor to check my work and do initial start up. The new unit runs great and although I can’t say that I’m looking forward to the next power outage, I can say that we’re prepared.

Short time frame for a thorough review but so far doing everything I expected. This unit is designed leaning towards have grid power as primary and using generator as a back up. Which I expect to do as time passes, currently I have no grid power (still waiting on Consumers Energy after a year) so we are using this in a completely manual mode. I have added a solar battery charger to keep the battery charged as this unit does not recharge the start battery unless it is connected to grid.

Thank you for providing feedback about your generator. This generator is not designed for off grid / prime power applications. Please understand that the warranty will become void by using this generator in that fashion. Generac Warranty
