Though I have only had the opportunity to use this air conditioner 3x, it is proving to be an excellent product. It was easy to set up and cools my 225 sq ft bedroom from the 80's to 68 in less than 10 min. The fan noise is no more than a regular fan. The customer service of the company is also top notch. I asked several questions that aided me in making my choice of prodect. I always heard back within 24hrs.

It cools off our high ceiling kitchen/dining/laundryroom and guestbath within an hour and a half! It arrived in 4 days, and was easy to set up.
It's not real quiet but not loud.

EdgeStar 14000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner - Dual Hose

Moved from a house to an apartment and needed an air conditioning unit. Had a difficult time deciding between the 14,000 BTU portable a/c and the 14,000 BTU window a/c but finally gave in and wanted to try out the portable a/c unit.
I had this EdgeStar unit for a couple of weeks now and it seems to be performing well at keeping the apartment cold. The direction of the air flow blows to the ceiling rather than directly into the room but maybe this is typical of this type of device compared to the window units. I had the unit sit by the window between the living room and the kitchen and it was able to keep both the living room and kitchen cold. Because the air flow direction is toward the ceiling, it is a bit more difficult to reach the bedrooms. However, leaving the bedroom doors open and keeping the unit on during the night definitely get you cold and will make you cover up in a blanket.
Overall experience and satisfaction with the unit are "Very Good" since I have only had it for a couple of weeks. The noise level of the device is loud but similar to that of the window unit so I have no complaint on that. The hose lines are also very sturdy and of high-quality hose which I like it a lot and expect it to last for a good time.
Hooking up the unit was also quite simple and I believe I didn't have to use any tools other than a knife to cut the box, which was helpful. I did spend a bit of time working on venting the unit hose to the window and making sure it stays sturdy.
I would recommend this unit to anyone wanting to keep a large room cool and cold. This is an honest review and I don't do reviews much (I'm feeling good today so it helps writing this review :) ) so I hope this will help you decide if this unit is right for you or not after reading this review. Good luck hunting for your a/c device.

I received in a day and a half. I let it set for 24 hours before using to allow the compressor to stabilize. ********Which should be the first warning in the manual.******* It has same noise level as a box fan. Panel is bright at night, covered with hand towel. It did not get to the lowest temp, but did cool the room. Wasn't that hot or muggy, though. I will update if status changes, but so far so good.

I like the feature that a/c and heater are in one under $400. It's not quiet when it's more than 85 degrees outside and try to cool at 75 degrees.
I recommend this product in a small room, about 12'x12' or an addition to another a/c for a larger room.
But it's still useful when there is no other cooling option in a house.
I look forward to using the heater option this winter.

The product arrived quickly and was well packaged. Set up was easy and the unit works very, very well. It is installed in an room that opens to two other rooms and somewhat exceeds it's square foot rating. It keeps the primary room very comfortable and reduces the temperature significantly in the other two. It even helps as the cool air flows to a lower level room. We are very pleased with our purchase and would recommend both this product and eComfort.com. Also the price was excellent for the value received.
