How do you keep it clean?
Gary
from Wisconsin
September 12, 2016
Answer
As with any flat plate heat exchanger, you will need to use a combination of prevention and maintenance to keep the LB31-30DW operating at peak efficiency. You will want to use a strainer or dirt separator on the inlet of both the hot and cold sides of the heat exchanger. If you are using the heat exchanger for domestic hot water production, you most likely will have to flush the domestic side periodically to dissolve any scale.

What is the difference between a single plate and a double plate heat exchanger?
Terry
from Connecticut
April 27, 2016
Answer
The single wall heat exchangers have just a single plate between the two fluids. If a leak develops it will allow the two fluids to mix. A double wall heat exchanger has two plates between the fluids with a small air gap between the plates. If a leak develops in this type of heat exchanger, the fluid will leak out of the air gap before the two fluids are allowed to mix. Double wall heat exchangers are often recommended or required for domestic hot water applications.
