What is the difference between UDAS/UDAP?
Ray
from Washington
August 10, 2016
Answer
The UDAS model has a separated combustion which requires a second pipe for fresh air from the outside. The UDAP model is a standard combustion unit which only requires one pipe for the exhaust.
The UDAP model is fine for most applications, but if you have a space that is tightly sealed, or contains lots of air born contaminants and pollutants, the UDAS may be a better option.

We recently installed 2 model UDAP150 gas fired heaters. I am trying to set up our ISO 9001 maintenance schedule. I need to know the recommended maintenance that must be performed on these, what should be done and at what intervals.
John
from New Jersey
December 18, 2015
Answer
Reznor recommends annual maintenance for their UDAS unit heaters. This should include cleaning, inspecting, and testing major components and safety devices for proper operation. Details can be found beginning page 28 of the
installation manual.

Can you supply this unit with a 2 stage gas valve?
Dennis
from Washington
December 18, 2015
Answer
Sizes of the UDAS and UDAP heaters 60,000BTU/hr and up can be special ordered with a 2-stage gas valve. This version will need to be special ordered, so it will cost slightly more and also have a longer lead time. Please contact us for details and to learn about other available options.

How does the UDAS-45 differ from the UDAS-45-AA2? Both appear to be usable with propane.
Russ
from Colorado
December 18, 2015
Answer
The -AA2 model is a variation of a UDAS/UDAP unit heater that is set up at the factory for use with liquid propane. The standard UDAS/UDAP model is factory set for natural gas use. With the appropriate conversion kit, you can also adapt the base model for use with propane. Because the -AA2 models must be special ordered, it is usually faster and cheaper to order the standard natural gas model with the appropriate conversion kit, and adapt the unit for use with propane in the field. The appropriate conversion kit can be found listed under the 'Accessories' tab.
