Goodman established itself as the largest HVAC manufacturer in the US by producing high-quality, efficient equipment and providing it to homeowners at a great value. The GMS8 single-stage, multi-speed furnace utilizes Goodman's superior heat exchanger design to provide efficient, reliable heating to your home. This furnace also excels at providing comfortable circulation in a variety of conditions thanks to its four-speed blower motor. Designed with some of the most dependable components available, the GMS8 furnace is built to last. It is also equipped with a self-diagnosing control board for quick maintenance, and is backed by Goodman's generous warranty. With the GMS8, you're getting comfort and peace of mind.
  • Advanced Heat Exchanger Design
  • The GMS8 furnace employs a reliable dual-diameter tubular heat exchanger design. Aluminized-steel is used for incredibly efficient heat transfer, and a wrinkle-bend is applied to the tubes to enhance the heat exchanger's dependability and longevity.
  • Quiet Comfort
  • The blower, motor, and igniter of the GMS81405DN were selected for their incredibly low sound levels.
  • Secure Cabinet
  • All GMS8 furnaces are protected by a durable steel cabinet with a long-lasting powder paint finish. The heat exchanger section is lined with foil-insulation to prevent heat loss and the entire cabinet is rated for less than 2% air leakage.
  • Easy Integration
  • The GMS81405DN makes it simple to enhance your system with a humidifier; just wire it directly to the low-voltage terminal on the control board.
  • Extended Warranty
  • Goodman offers a 10-year limited parts warranty when you register your product online within 60 days of installation. An unregistered product has the standard 5-year warranty. See warranty sheet under the "Manuals" tab for more information.

Modulating/Staging Stages are unique speeds or levels that equipment can operate at. More stages allow for better fine-tuned control of output, which improves comfort and efficiency. Modulating equipment can operate across a range of levels, giving the highest level of fine-tuned control. Learn More
Single Stage
Blower Type Blower type describes the motor that powers the fan in the unit. PSC multi-speed is the standard motor that operates with pre-set fan speed levels. ECM multi-speed are more efficient but still operate with pre-set fan speeds. Finally, ECM variable-speed motors are also energy efficient and automatically adjust to changing system conditions.

Answer
Goomdan's GMS-Series furnaces are approved for horizontal installation on either the right or left side. They can also be suspended using 3/8" threaded rod and 2"x2"x3/8" angle iron. Further details on horizontal installation and suspension can be found on pages 9 and 10 of the installation manual

Can this unit be used in California?
Francisco
from California
December 28, 2015
Answer
Goodman makes special Low NOx models for use in California and other areas that limit nitrous oxide emissions. These models can be easily found and identified because that have an 'X' instead of an 'N' at the end of the model number. All of the high-efficiency models (AFUE >= 90%), are compliant with these emissions regulations.

I have a Carrier furnace at the moment. How difficult would it be to install the Goodman furnace in its place since I already have all the duct work in place for the Carrier?
Timothy
from Idaho
December 04, 2015
Answer
As long as the cabinet dimensions are the same, the job is pretty straightforward. There will likely be a few gas piping and electrical hookup modifications, but these are usually not much work for a professional installer. You'll want to match the width, depth, and height to your existing unit as closely as possible.

Keep in mind that you should not sacrifice proper output to match physical dimensions -- making adjustments to ductwork is preferable to installing a mis-sized unit.

Answer
Yes, the NG-to-LP conversion kit for this furnace is the Goodman LPT-03.
