Features

Dunkirk is one of the most established names in hydronic heating. Their reputation has been built over the years by ingenious design and perpetual innovation. The Excelsior EXB is a highly efficient oil-fired boiler produced by Dunkirk. It excels in new construction or as a replacement boiler. This is due in large part to the EXB's fantastic versatility and longevity. Excelsior EXB boilers are designed with ease of installation and ease of use in mind. The boiler's compact design makes it easy to fit into your home's system and a reversible burner door provides even more flexibility. The EXB features straightforward dial-based controls with a clear LED screen. Setting your boiler for comfortable, efficient operation is rarely easier than it is with an EXB. Dunkirk selected cast-iron for the Excelsior EXB's heat exchanger because of the material's reliability and durability. When it comes to oil-fired hydronic heating, the Excelsior EXB is one the best options available.

    Product Features

    Three Pass Heat Exchanger
For the EXB's cast-iron heat exchanger Dunkirk employed a three-pass design. This design maximizes heat transfer by routing the boiler water through the heat exchanger three times. Superior heat transfer means less wasted energy and more efficient heat.

    Economy Mode
The control for Excelsior EXB boilers features an energy saving operating mode. Economy Mode is set through a dial on the control. When active, it automatically manages the temperature and circulation of your system to find the perfect balance of efficiency and comfort.

    Simplified Maintenance
The reversible burner door of the Excelsior EXB provides quick access to the heat exchanger and oil line for inspection and service purposes. Extra wide flueways also streamline the maintenance process; they accumulate less dirt and are easier to clean.

Cast Iron
Fuel Type Learn More
Fuel Type
To create heat, some form of fuel is required. Fuel Type specifies what the product uses as an input to create heat.
Oil
Combustion Type Learn More
Combustion Type
Condensing appliances use leftover thermal energy from combustion gases to heat water in a secondary heat exchanger, resulting in higher efficiency and lower exhaust temperature.
Conventional
Vent Type Learn More
Vent Type
Products that use combustion (burning) of fuel to create heat also create potentially dangerous gasses that need to be exhausted (AKA "Vented"). Depending on the product, venting can be done via a chimney, through a side wall, or use a second vent to provide fresh air to the appliance.
Direct Vent
DHW Production Learn More
DHW Production
DHW (Domestic Hot Water) is potable water for uses other than space heat. Some boilers are able to provide DHW "out of the box", while others can do so with the purchase of optional accessories.

Modulating/Staging Learn More
Modulating/Staging
Stages are unique speeds or levels that equipment can operate at. More stages allow for better fine-tuned control of output, which improves comfort and efficiency. Modulating equipment can operate across a range of levels, giving the highest level of fine-tuned control. Learn More
