    Burnham has had remarkable success achieving a high efficiency for its Independence line of steam boilers. With an AFUE of 83% for a steam boiler, homeowners can be assured that energy costs are as low as possible. Ranging from 62,000 BTU to 385,000 BTU, the Independence line of steam boilers can be used in a wide variety of applications. Using natural or LP gas, a direct vent or natural draft option are both acceptable choices. Cast iron sectional design ensures reliable heat transfer, and an optional water boiler allows for maximum flexibility. What controls are included in this package?

Answer
The knockdown (KIN) and semi-packaged (SIN) configurations of the Independence steam boilers do not include any controls. A steam trim kit containing a low water cut-off, an operating high-pressure control, a sight glass, and necessary fittings must be purchased separately to complete the installation. There are three different version available differing only in the low water cut-off device that is included.

This Burnham Independence boiler does not come assembled.

"Knocked-Down" boilers come disassembled, which is often helpful for transporting them into a home's mechanical room. The K as the first character of the model number (KIN7...) represents Knocked-Down. Packaged Burnham IN-series boilers have a P as the first character (e.g. PIN7...).
