For nearly three decades, tekmar has been providing zoning and control solutions for a variety of heating and cooling applications. Products made by tekmar can improve the efficiency and comfort delivered by almost any system. The 654 Snow Melting Control is for hydronic or electric snow melting systems. This tekmarNet 4 control operates an on/off, or modulating, boiler or a mixing device to provide snow melting operations. The tekmar 654 possesses several energy saving features to make your system more economical without sacrificing connectivity. It is an ideal solution for safe and reliable snow melting operations.
The tekmar 654 monitors outdoor temperature information and the water temperature at a point in your system. Using this information, it is able to determine the ideal slab temperature for your snow melt system.
The tekmar 654 Snow Melting Control supports an additional sensor for automatic activation of melting protocols. A tekmar Snow or Snow/Ice Sensor connected to your control is necessary for this functionality. A slab sensor may be added for monitoring the temperature in your snow melting slab if you use the 095 Snow Sensor. Automated snow melting means that your system won't miss precipitate and won't run when there is no need.
Warm Weather Shutdown
Warm weather shut down is present in this control and it prevents your system from melting or idling when the slab and outdoor temperatures are above a threshold. That threshold may be automated or manually set.
Cold Weather Cut Out
Cold weather cut out prevents your system from running during extremely cold temperatures when maintaining melting functions may be inefficient and untenable.
Program Your Ideal Schedule
This control supports a seven day or 24 hour schedule with two or four events per day. You may override your schedule with an "away" scene at any time in order to save energy while snow melting operation is unnecessary. If you connect the 654 to a tekmarNet system your schedule can be maintained independently, or it can be applied to other tekmarNet thermostats and controls as a system-wide master schedule. The 654 can also follow master schedules as set by other devices. A well planned schedule will prevent your snow melting processes from activating when it is not necessary.
This control requires a tekmar 009(K) Transformer.
